SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

 

Coffee

Meeting together after the Parish Eucharist on a Sunday morning is a great place to get to know our community.

 

Walking Group

Meets once a month sometimes on a Sunday afternoon and sometimes on a Saturday for a day out. Walks have either been “from the door” or have involved public transport. The pace is not frenetic and the company is excellent.

 

Film and Faith

Meets once a month to watch good films and then explore the issues raised and our impressions. We do not watch just overtly religious films. In recent times we have watched Science Fiction, Historical Epics, Comedy, Romance and Political Thrillers. We also try foreign language films.

 

Football

We have a number of keen footballers both women and men. Click here to read the story of football at St Mary’s.

 

Poetry

From time to time we meet to read and enjoy favourite poems

 

Concerts

We have an ongoing series of Organ Restoration Concerts. These are at 6pm on a Saturday or Sunday for about an hour followed by refreshments and are free. Other musical events take place throughout the year too.

 

Other Social Events include:

 

 The Annual Summer BBQ held in the Rectory Garden if the weather is kind to us, otherwise in the Church Hall

 

 Parish Lunches, not least at our Patronal Festival (in September) and Harvest.

 

 Barn Dances for all ages.
